From the same guy (I think) a whole mass of photos, mostly on a naval/military theme, with some interesting ones like graffiti found in an old air raid shelter:

linkComment30/8/03 - From the guide How To Find A (British) Man In Europe, here's how to get rid of him:

"Let's pretend, for example, that your British man is from Ipswich. An Ipswich man hates everything that has to do with their rival, the Norwich Canaries. Norwich's colors are yellow and green and they're sponsored by Coleman's mustard. The easiest way to get rid of him is to wear nothing but yellow and green. Within a day or two, he will start loathing you. His hatred may be a displaced subconscious thing or it may spawn from your refusal to change your clothes. If for some reason, he's completely oblivious to your wardrobe, paint yourself yellow and green and walk around with a stuffed canary on your shoulder and a jar of Coleman's in your purse. He'll be gone in no time."

linkComment30/8/03 - I'm sure it was a close run thing:

"Across the tent Harold and Pat Crapper of Cross Birches Farm, Coal Aston looked on in amusement as they prepared their two Holstein cows, Breeze and Geri. "I called her Geri after Geri Helliwell," said Harold. "They're quite similar except my Geri has got bigger boobs.""

linkComment30/8/03 - An interesting article what you might be getting in your bottled water:

"The message is clear: Bottled water is "good" water, as opposed to that nasty, unsafe stuff that comes out of the tap. But in most cases tap water adheres to stricter purity standards than bottled water, whose source -- far from a mountain spring -- can be the parking lot of an industrial facility in New Jersey. Forty percent of it began life as, well, tap water."
Of course bottled water will always be promoted by people who should know better e.g. the Observer's medical, I hesitate to use the word, expert:
"A big believer in keeping the diet as natural and unadulterated as possible, I have been an inveterate drinker of mineral water for the past decade. It is pretty much all we have drunk for the vast majority of our evolution on this planet. Legally, mineral water must emerge from the ground in a state fit to drink. In contrast, tap water starts out life as polluted water and must undergo multi-step processing before it is deemed safe."
Of course "fit to drink" can cover a multitude of sins.  And there's just the whole problem of good water containing "minerals" and bad water containing "chemicals".  Don't doctors have to do chemistry any more?
