There can be many reasons why you’d want to create your own YouTube channel, but today we’ll focus on the how and not on the why. Luckily, setting up a new YouTube channel is super easy and won’t take you long either.
Nevertheless, you’re going to need a YouTube account for this purpose. Since YouTube is one of Google’s services you’ll need a Google account to create a YouTube account. Even if you’re not a fan of anything Google, there’s just no other way.
Once you’ve logged into your YouTube account, click your profile icon in the upper right corner of the screen to open your account. Then, click the gear icon.
On the following screen, click the option called “See all my channels or create a new channel”, then select “Create a new channel”. On the creation page, name your channel and click the “Create” button.
Congratulations! You managed to create your own YouTube channel. Now it’s time to customize its looks. To begin with, click “Customize Channel”. On the next screen you can select the “Add channel art” to load a new background image for the channel.
After you add the banner, you can crop it to make sure it looks good on all platforms and optionally use the “Auto-enhance” option. Click “Select” when you’re happy with how it looks.
Then, you will need to add a profile image. A channel without a profile image would look suspicious, so hold the mouse over the default thumbnail on the Customize Channel screen and click the small pencil icon that will appear to load another profile icon.
Another thing that will make your channel more relevant but also easier to find in search is filling in the About section. Here, you can enter your channel’s description, as well as link to your other channels if any, and add contact information if you want to.
Now that you have everything set up, you can upload your own videos. Simply click your channel logo in the upper-right corner of the screen, then select Creator Studio. To continue, load the video via drag and drop – you can optionally upload it in private mode if you want to see how it looks before making it public.
Finally, fill in your video’s description and tags, as well as links and credits, if any. Hit the “Save changes” button to finalize the process.
You’ll find your uploaded video on the Creator Studio’s Dashboard. You can edit it at any time, add it to playlists, as well as view its stats.
As you can see, it’s easy to create your own YouTube channel, and setting it up is just as simple.
