linkComment 26/10/02 - They'll give awards to just about anybody these days:

"The great fictional detective Sherlock Holmes is to receive a posthumous Honorary Fellowship from the Royal Society of Chemistry."
linkComment 26/10/02 - The strange thing about the Norwich Monopoly set is that it features barely any streets
"As you move round the board with your little silver marker, you will pass and land on squares occupied by 33 household names, including Norwich Castle, the Forum, Theatre Royal and even the EDP in the form of the 'Chance' square. Sister paper the Evening News also features, along with Norwich airport, the railway station, the River Wensum, the University of East Anglia, historic Elm Hill, the Maddermarket Theatre, Langley's toy shop/Royal Arcade and the Dinosaur Adventure Park."
Dinosaur Adventure Park???

Not enough votes for Surrey Street obviously, home to my old school:

Notre Dame High School, Surrey Street, Norwich

It took me a while to work out how they'd got that photo; I don't remember school being so arboraceous.

linkComment 26/10/02 - An interesting way to fight spam, Gabriel's Sword:

"You can do something about porn spam. Join us, and we'll make the porn spammers pay.

It's a very simple idea. Every website has to pay for bandwidth - the amount of files downloaded from their site. The more people who "hit" their site, the more they pay. Usually, lots of people hitting their site is a good thing some of them will buy something and cover the bandwidth costs. What we're doing is flooding their sites with "surfers" who aren't buying anything, and not viewing their content. We run up their bandwidth bills and they get nothing in return. That's bad for them."

Unfortunately the software is not currently available.

linkComment 5/10/02 - I didn't know that Moe's cursing in The Simpsons is inspired by the Tube Bar recordings:

"I’ll catch you, you cocksucker, and when I do, boy, God bless you!"
All Bart's prank calls.
